The Town has partnered with the Eagle River Fire Protection District to conduct wildfire mitigation treatment on 42.8 acres of open space land in the West Avon Preserve. Town has committed $80,000 to match $190,000 in grant funds obtained by Eagle River Fire Protection District to complete this work. The project will reduce wildfire fuel materials in the West Avon Preserve in areas that are closest to existing homes and several areas near adjacent to the I-70 corridor. The work is expected to commence by mid-May. The Eagle River Fire Protection District will also conduct 3-4 brush collection and chipping events to support homeowners who clear a defensible space around the perimeter of their homes.
