Core Transit’s bus service is doing more than just getting riders from point A to B. It’s fostering independence, building confidence, and connecting young people to their communities.
Meet 12-year-old Ben, a local student from the valley who is discovering a new sense of freedom thanks to Core Transit’s reliable and welcoming service. Whether Ben is commuting to school, heading out for an ice cream with friends, or embarking on an outdoor adventure, the bus has become his ticket to independence. “Ben’s ability to travel on his own has been life-changing,” says his mom, Aryn. “He’s exploring the world beyond our home, learning to manage his time, and growing more responsible every day. The drivers at Core Transit are amazing. They give me peace of mind that when my son is traveling, I have an extra set of eyes on him to ensure his safety.”
Ben’s story is just one of many from kids all over Eagle County. Core Transit’s service has become an invaluable resource for students who need safe, dependable, and affordable transportation. Most recently, students at Vail Mountain School organized a special “Family Bus to School Day” on Friday, September 27, encouraging their peers to hop on the bus and embrace the independence it offers. The event saw incredible participation, with around 40 students from Gypsum, Eagle, Edwards, and Avon taking the bus up to East Vail together. Vail Mountain School told us they are excited to build on this momentum, extending this experience to more families. This initiative shows both Vail Mountain School and Core Transit’s ongoing commitment to enhancing independence while reducing the environmental impact of transportation throughout the valley.
This isn’t just about convenience; it’s about giving young people the tools to grow. By providing often free, easy access to school and other activities, Core Transit is helping families and their kids experience less screen time and more real-world interactions. Benefits extend far beyond transportation as it helps create a healthier, more connected community where kids can gain life skills and confidence with every trip.
Core Transit’s vision to be the #1 choice for getting around our region, because our services are so outrageously beneficial, shines through these stories. We are not only getting kids to where they need to go but also providing a service that’s welcoming, accessible, dependable, and rewarding for students and their families. Whether it’s daily commutes or special events like “Ride to School” day, Core Transit is making a positive difference in the lives of Eagle County’s youth.
