The Vail Gymnastics Center will be closed to all recreational classes and open gyms until Monday, January 6. Session 3 (January 7 – February 14) will resume on Tuesday, January 7. The Town of Minturn is seeking feedback on opportunities to improve roadway, pedestrian and bike safety for the Town. Minturn was recently awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation for a Safety Action Plan. Check Minturn.org for further details.

Cottonwood Pass in Eagle County from Gypsum to the Roaring Fork Valley closed for the winter season from mile marker 2.5 in Gypsum to mile marker 12.5. There is no winter maintenance on Cottonwood Pass. The road will reopen in April 2025, or when conditions allow.

The Town of Eagle is hosting an Ice Castles exhibition on Monday, Dec. 16 from 4 until 10 p.m. The exhibit features tunnels, caverns, towers, fountains, slides and caves all built entirely from ice. Color is provided by LED lights embedded in the ice.

The Gypsum Fire Protection District is bringing the jolly old elf to town for their Santa Parade on Wednesday, Dec. 18. Beginning in Gypsum at 5 p.m. and winding through town and finishing in Dotsero at about 8:30.

The Town of Avon is looking for volunteers for the 2025 summer season. In exchange for contributing your time as a volunteer, the town is offering a one-year membership to the Avon Rec Center for 35 volunteer hours and a 25-punch card for 15 hours. The Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail has released some early information about this summer’s concert schedule. The first confirmed shows for the 2025 season include Grammy Award winner, Leon Bridges, beloved rock band O.A.R. and Vail Valley favorite Michael Franti and Spearhead.

Copper Mountain Resort offers year round skiing on real snow for 12 consecutive months. Copper Mountain’s winter season is underway.

The Vail Recreation’s Ugly Sweater Fun Run is on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 8:30 a.m. Two distances will be offered, a 5K and a one-mile option. Lots of prizes will be awarded at the after-party. Fire crews will be burning slash piles into the winter months to clear some of the problematic dead fall in high risk areas. This may cause visible smoke in some areas, but not so much as to pose any serious health threats.

The Town of Avon has transitioned to their winter snow removal operations. The town asks residents to remember not to park on the street, make sure their driveway and sidewalks are cleared, register snow plow vehicles with a complete list of properties under contract for their services, and be advised of the rules and regulations surrounding snow removal.

The Vail Recreation District is helping gather toy and food donations for local charities assisting those in need in the Vail Valley. Donation drop-off boxes will be placed at locations around Vail including: Dobson Ice Arena, the Imagination Station and the Vail Nordic Center.
